The design inspiration for the American Eagle Silver dollar came from the 1900's Walking Liberty silver dollar and it is the official silver bullion coin of the United States of America.

For pricing purposes, the American Eagle silver dollar aligns very closely with the current price that of silver, which can fluctuate often.  The American Eagle silver dollar is minted in lower numbers than other silver dollars in more recent times, with numbers of around 10,000,000 being produced in 2006 vs. over 30,000,000 of the Eisenhower silver dollars during some years in the 1970's.
